01 Overview

The heavy lifting, without paying for a truck you’ve already rented

Not every Philadelphia move needs a full-service mover. Plenty of jobs just need a couple of strong, experienced backs for an hour or two. Maybe you rented a Penske for a drive down I-95 and just want it loaded so the load doesn’t shift on the bridge. Maybe a POD is sitting at the curb in Bensalem and you’d rather not wrestle a sleeper sofa up the ramp yourself. That’s loading and unloading labor, and it’s work our crew does every week.

Across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, Pro Tri State Movers runs every move on one written number, with no add-ons after the truck loads.

You supply the vehicle, we supply the crew

Bring the U-Haul, the Penske, the trailer or the POD, and we bring the people and the method. There’s no one-hour minimum to burn through, so $155/hr buys two movers and $215/hr buys three for exactly as long as the job runs. A quick unload out of a Fishtown apartment doesn’t get billed like a full day.

Loaded the way it should ride

The reason to hire a real crew for a self-drive move is the load itself. We pad-wrap furniture, strap it in tiers, and set the weight low and balanced so a rental truck stays stable on the Schuylkill or the Turnpike — the same load planning we’d use on our own trucks. A poorly packed rental shifts the first time you brake hard on I-95, and that’s when the cheap day on labor turns into a broken dresser and a dented door. We pack it tight on the front end so the drive is uneventful.

  • Crews for rental trucks, PODs, containers and trailers, loading or unloading
  • Pads, dollies, shrink wrap and straps brought by the crew
  • Beds and large furniture taken apart or rebuilt as part of the labor
  • On labor-only work the released-value coverage applies to our handling, not to the drive you make afterward

Tell us the vehicle and the job. A $125 deposit holds the crew and the date and comes off the final labor bill.

What’s included

  • Our own Pro Tri State muscle and method loading or unloading your rental truck, POD or trailer — you bring the vehicle, we bring the crew
  • Labor-only with no one-hour minimum hanging over it — $155/hr puts two movers on the job, $215/hr puts three
  • Professional load planning that keeps the weight riding safe over the bridges and packs the truck or container tight for the highway
  • The crew carries in the pads, shrink wrap, dollies and load straps — none of it left for you to round up
  • Beds and big furniture get taken apart or rebuilt as part of the labor whenever you need it
  • A $125 deposit holds the crew and the date, then credits straight to the final labor bill

How we set the price

Following a short walkthrough or video estimate, we set one flat rate from the inventory you actually have — never an hourly clock. Whatever that sheet reads is the entire price, with nothing tacked on later.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your things the way we would our own

Every truck shows up stocked with pads, film, and floor runners — set to wrap furniture, guard hardwood, and cushion the breakables in tight Philadelphia rowhouses, trinity walk-ups, and Center City high-rises alike.

Quilted pads

Dressers, tables, and headboards get pad-wrapped in place, every one of them, before the first piece ever leaves the room.

Stretch film

Wrapped tight against road grime and humidity, drawers hold shut and upholstery rides clean across every bridge and mile.

Floor & doorway guards

Nobody lifts a box until the runners, rail wraps, and jamb pads are down, so hardwood, banisters, and trim finish the day untouched.

Built-to-fit crating

Mirrors, glass tops, framed art, flat screens — each one rides in a crate we build to its exact dimensions, corners and all.

Break-down & rebuild

Anything oversized — bed frames, dining tables, sectionals — breaks down for the ride and goes back together once it is inside the new place.

Straps, dollies & gear

Narrow rowhouse stairs, trinity winders, and the heaviest pieces each get the right tie-downs and equipment — no shortcuts on our truck.

03 Why us

The name on the contract is the name on the truck

When you book Pro Tri State, it is our paperwork you sign, our rig that parks on your block, and our own movers carrying the load — nobody hands your job off. A broker does the opposite: auctions it to the cheapest bidder of the week, then disappears.

Pro Tri State Movers
  • Full-time, background-checked movers on our own trucks — never a day-labor pickup
  • Your flat rate goes on paper and stays there — the signed figure is the settled figure, to the dollar
  • Load-out and unload are the same crew, beginning to end
  • Licensed in PA, NJ & DE plus USDOT/MC for interstate, and fully insured
  • One Philadelphia office and one contact, from the first call to the last box
What a broker does
  • Sells your move to whichever carrier underbids the rest this week
  • Lets the price climb on move day with fees nobody mentioned up front
  • Sends people you have never met to carry everything you own
  • Leaves it murky whose insurance is actually on the hook
  • Stands a phone bank between you and whoever finally shows up to lift

Questions we hear about this service

I've already rented a truck — can you just do the lifting?
Yes, and labor-only is one of our most-booked services. Pull the U-Haul, Penske, POD or trailer up to the curb and our crew handles the loading or the unloading. It runs at our normal crew rate — $155/hr for two movers, $215/hr for three — with the one-hour minimum waived, so a quick unload out of a rowhouse doesn't cost you half a day.
Can you load a shipping container or POD rather than a truck?
Definitely. We load containers and trailers regularly for Philadelphia folks running their own long-distance move or staging a renovation. The same load-planning that keeps a moving truck stable over the Ben Franklin Bridge keeps a POD packed tight so nothing shifts when the carrier hauls it off.
Will the load be packed right if I'm driving the truck myself?
That's the whole reason to bring our crew in. We pad-wrap the furniture, strap the load in tiers, and set the weight where it belongs so a rental truck handles right on I-95 or the Turnpike. Worth flagging: on labor-only work we aren't the carrier doing the transporting, so the coverage sits on our handling rather than on the drive you take afterward. A $125 deposit holds the crew and date.
