01 Overview

Whole-home moves for Philadelphia houses, start to finish in a day

A house carries far more than an apartment ever does, and a Philadelphia house carries it in places a mover has to think about — the basement that floods every nor’easter, the third-floor back bedroom, the stoop you can’t get a dolly up, the dining set that’s lived in the same rowhouse front room for twenty years. Pro Tri State has been moving Delaware Valley homes since 2014: brick rowhouses in South Philly and Bella Vista, twins out in Media, split-levels up in Bensalem, and colonials across the river in Cherry Hill and Wilmington. Each one of those is a different kind of move, and a crew that’s only ever worked suburban driveways tends to find that out the hard way on a city block.

Across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, our Philly moving crew runs every move on one written number, with no add-ons after the truck loads.

The crew knows the stairs before they get here

What separates a clean house move from a long, scraped-up one is whoever’s carrying the furniture down the stairs. Pat Doyle leads our rowhouse and walk-up crews, and his people know the trinity winder, the narrow turn at the bottom of a stoop, and the Manayunk hill block where the truck stages up the street. We take apart what needs taking apart, pad the tight spots, and protect your floors on the way through.

One price, however your home is built

Go by the hour — $155 for two movers, $215 for three, with nothing to burn through since there’s no minimum — or settle on the flat rate, which opens at $399 on a small home and gives you the figure before we touch the first box. Both numbers come to you and the lower one is the one you pay.

  • Same crew loads in Philadelphia and unloads at the new address, in-state or across the bridge
  • Beds, sectionals and dining sets taken apart and rebuilt at the other end
  • Floor and stair protection on every job — hardwood, carpet, marble stoop
  • Cross-river moves to NJ and DE under one company, bridge tolls and all
  • Up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment, $0.60/lb released-value standard, full-value optional

Tell us the home and the destination, in the city or across the bridge, and we’ll quote it honestly both ways. A $125 deposit holds your date and comes straight off the bill.

What’s included

  • A full house crew on one of our own trucks — owner-run, in uniform, no day labor pulled off a corner and nothing subcontracted out
  • Price it by the hour at $155 for two movers or $215 for three, or take a flat rate that starts at $399 on a small home — you go with whichever total runs lower
  • Pads, shrink wrap, dollies, wardrobe boxes, and floor runners that keep hardwood and stair treads clean while we carry
  • Beds, sectionals, dining sets — anything that won't make a tight rowhouse turn intact comes apart and goes back together at the other end
  • A crew that knows the real housing stock here: trinity winder stairs, third-floor walk-ups, Manayunk hill addresses, and the suburban colonials across the river
  • Up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage on every shipment, with $0.60/lb released-value as standard and full-value available

How we set the price

Following a short walkthrough or video estimate, we set one flat rate from the inventory you actually have — never an hourly clock. Whatever that sheet reads is the entire price, with nothing tacked on later.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your things the way we would our own

Every truck shows up stocked with pads, film, and floor runners — set to wrap furniture, guard hardwood, and cushion the breakables in tight Philadelphia rowhouses, trinity walk-ups, and Center City high-rises alike.

Quilted pads

Dressers, tables, and headboards get pad-wrapped in place, every one of them, before the first piece ever leaves the room.

Stretch film

Wrapped tight against road grime and humidity, drawers hold shut and upholstery rides clean across every bridge and mile.

Floor & doorway guards

Nobody lifts a box until the runners, rail wraps, and jamb pads are down, so hardwood, banisters, and trim finish the day untouched.

Built-to-fit crating

Mirrors, glass tops, framed art, flat screens — each one rides in a crate we build to its exact dimensions, corners and all.

Break-down & rebuild

Anything oversized — bed frames, dining tables, sectionals — breaks down for the ride and goes back together once it is inside the new place.

Straps, dollies & gear

Narrow rowhouse stairs, trinity winders, and the heaviest pieces each get the right tie-downs and equipment — no shortcuts on our truck.

03 Why us

The name on the contract is the name on the truck

When you book Pro Tri State, it is our paperwork you sign, our rig that parks on your block, and our own movers carrying the load — nobody hands your job off. A broker does the opposite: auctions it to the cheapest bidder of the week, then disappears.

Pro Tri State Movers
  • Full-time, background-checked movers on our own trucks — never a day-labor pickup
  • Your flat rate goes on paper and stays there — the signed figure is the settled figure, to the dollar
  • Load-out and unload are the same crew, beginning to end
  • Licensed in PA, NJ & DE plus USDOT/MC for interstate, and fully insured
  • One Philadelphia office and one contact, from the first call to the last box
What a broker does
  • Sells your move to whichever carrier underbids the rest this week
  • Lets the price climb on move day with fees nobody mentioned up front
  • Sends people you have never met to carry everything you own
  • Leaves it murky whose insurance is actually on the hook
  • Stands a phone bank between you and whoever finally shows up to lift

Questions we hear about this service

Our place is a trinity with those tight winding stairs — can you move a bedroom set out of it?
Yes, and Pat Doyle's crew specializes in exactly that. Trinities and old rowhouses have stairwells a standard mover treats as a wall; we take the bed and the dresser apart, pad the corners, and bring pieces down the winders by hand. We walk every staircase before we start so the furniture and the plaster both come out unmarked.
Can a whole house get done in a single day?
Most do. A typical two- or three-bedroom Philadelphia home, packed and ready, is a one-day job for our crew. We bring enough movers to keep it moving — two at $155/hr, three at $215/hr — and a bigger four-bedroom or a long carry across the bridge to Jersey we'll talk through ahead of time and schedule the right crew size so nobody's there past dark.
Will you move us from PA into New Jersey or Delaware?
All the time — it's the whole reason the company is called Pro Tri State. We're licensed in all three states, so a move from a South Philly rowhouse to a Cherry Hill single-family or a Wilmington colonial is one crew, one truck, one bill, bridge tolls and all. Reserve the date with a $125 deposit and we credit it straight back against your final total.
